Did you know that body waxing and facial waxing is the most common form of hair removal other than laser today? Our waxing treatments consists of warm or cool wax applied to the hair and pulled off in strips. Waxing lasts longer and feels smoother than shaving since the hair is removed at the root. Treatments typically last 4-6 weeks.
How to Prepare For Your Waxing Appointment
Regardless of which area of the body you are waxing, take a quick inventory to make sure you don’t have any cuts or scratches. If you have any moles or beauty marks, let your esthetician know so they can be safeguarded during the waxing process.
Exfoliate one or two days before your appointment, lightly exfoliate your skin, but skip the day of your appointment. Exfoliation helps wax grab hair and not skin, but it can also make skin more sensitive, so lighter exfoliation is better.
Moisturize up to one day before your appointment. Healthy, supple skin allows the wax to release more easily, but too much conditioner could coat the hair and thwart the wax’s grip, so no body cream on the day of your appointment.
While our estheticians are experts, and most clients experience little discomfort, consider taking an OTC pain reliever a half hour before your appointment.
Certain medications, such as Retin-A can sensitize skin to waxing. Cease taking retinol-based products for two weeks before waxing, or a month for Accutane. Before making any changes to your prescriptions, always consult with your prescribing physician.
