VI Peels for Younger Looking Skin

Rejuvenate your skin with a VI Peel at Bella Derma Laser & Med Spa in Eagleville

Remember the days when you would spend hours at the beach, soaking up the sun to get the perfect tan?  Are you someone who still shows scars from the days of popping acne in your youth? Or do you just wish your skin had the bright, clear, even tone it used to have?

Our skin represents the largest organ our bodies are composed of.  It is our shield.  Our layer of protection.  Just like armor, your skin absorbs the elements, oils, toxins, and environmental factors you come in contact with on a daily basis.  While our skin is efficient at shedding itself to replenish, our lifestyles still wreak havoc well beyond what our bodies are generally used to.

Aging is a process we all must face, and as we age, our skin naturally loses elasticity.  Our bodies produce less and less collagen and will show more fine lines and wrinkles.  Our complexions change and can even become unevenly pigmented.  Environmental factors also play a large role in the appearance of your skin.  UV rays, smoking, and beauty products that contain harsh ingredients add to many people’s cosmetic concerns when it comes to their skin.

VI peels help rejuvenate your skin with a deep exfoliation process that allows you to shed the damaged cells of your skin more efficiently to reveal your healthier, more youthful glow.

What is a VI Peel and How Does it Work?

VI chemical peels may sound scary, but in reality, they are a safe and effective way to replenish your skin and stimulate production of new proteins.  The VI peel uses a specialized combination of tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenol, and vitamin C.  This unique blend penetrates the epidermis layer of the skin, enabling it to shed its damaged layers and promote cellular turnover while refining the surface layer of your skin.  Once the damaged layers have been safely shed, your strong, replenished skin has a chance to glow.

A VI peel from Bella Derma Laser & Med Spa can be used to effectively

  • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
  • Repair Acne scars
  • Treat keratosis pilaris
  • Reduce enlarged pores
  • Even skin’s texture
  • Balance hyperpigmentation
  • Diminish age spots
  • Repair sun damage
  • Improve facial scarring
  • Clear skin from body acne
  • Reduce the appearance of surgical scars
  • Minimize stretch marks

Enhancing your skin with the deep exfoliating power of a VI chemical peel allows your fresh cells to shine, essentially turning back the clock and resetting your skin.

VI peels help reduce your skin’s oil production, reduce inflammation, unclog pores, and kill bacteria that can be causing damage to your skin, contributing to breakouts, enhancing fine lines and wrinkles, and making the skin appear older than it is.

A VI chemical peel is a perfect restorative treatment that is safe for all skin types and can give your skin a youthful glow.  The days of painful, repetitive chemical peels are over!  VI peels combine the most effective acids into a single application that requires zero downtime once completed.  The best part is, you will see results after your first treatment!

VI peels are most commonly used to treat a variety of cosmetic concerns on the face, in addition to on the chest, arms, hands, and back.

What Can I Expect with My VI Chemical Peel?

VI peel is painless and easy-to-use application that only takes about 20 to 30 minutes with little to no downtime afterward.

Here is what you can expect when you come for your VI peel appointment at Bella Derma Laser & Med Spa.

  1. Your treatment begins with a deep cleansing of your skin.  We ensure to remove all dirt and oil from the skin prior to applying the solution.  After cleansing the skin, we will degrease all areas on the skin where the solution will be applied.
  2. Once your skin is cleansed and degreased, we will apply the first layer of VI peel solution.  You may notice a tingling feeling on your skin during the application.  This is the solution being absorbed and beginning to work.
  3. Once the first layer is absorbed, we will apply up to 6 passes of the solution. You will leave the solution on for 4 hours to enable the peel to have its full effect. You should not put anything on your skin for the first 4 hours.
  4. At the 4 hour mark, you’ll begin the at-home portion of the regimen.  Don’t worry; the at-home kit will be provided to you by our office and comes with clear, simple step-by-step follow up care instructions in the VI peel app.

Approximately 3 days following your treatment, your skin will start to peel.  The peel will resemble the way your skin looks when shedding after a sunburn.  It will appear flaky and may feel drier than normal.  Do not “force” peeling or pick at skin prematurely.  The skin will peel naturally and at its own pace.

It is normal if your skin appears slightly red or tan immediately after the peel.  The pigmentation will relax that day to reveal the youthful glow of your fresh new skin.  After your skin is done peeling, typically by day 7, you are free to resume your normal skincare routine.

Frequently Asked Questions for VI Peel

How often can you get a VI peel?

VI chemical peels are considered moderate-depth chemical peels so they are safe to get as frequently as every 4-6 weeks, but it is always recommended to consult with your doctor based on your skin’s individual needs for frequency.

How many VI peels will I need to see results?

VI peels are medically-grade chemical peels that combine the most effective acids into a single treatment.  That means you will start to see results after a single treatment.  For full benefits, deep scarring or skincare concerns, we recommend 3 treatments.

How many times will my skin peel following treatment?

The average person’s skin will peel 3 days following your treatment.  It is not uncommon for patients to report their skin peeled again after several additional days.  Keeping the skin properly moisturized will aid in the peeling.  Peeling typically only lasts 2-4 days.

What are the limitations following an VI peel?

That is one of the best features of getting a VI chemical peel.  There are really no restrictions following the treatment!  It is recommended that you avoid heavy sweating until after your skin peels and that you stay out of direct sunlight.  Aside from that, you can participate in your normal activities.

Can I wear makeup after the VI peel is applied?

We recommend no makeup on the treated area for at least 48 hours.

How long will my VI peel appointment last?

Your appointment should only take around 30 minutes.

Are there any preparations for my skin I need to do prior to my appointment?

There is really no preparation you need to do prior to your appointment.  We will need to cleanse the skin prior to the application of the VI peel solution, so washing with a gentle cleanser prior to your appointment is always helpful to ensure excess dirt and oil are removed from the skin.

It’s called a VI chemical peel.  Does it burn?

No.  You may feel a tingling, tightening, or a slight stinging sensation during the application, but it is temporary and typically only lasts a few seconds and subsides quickly.
